The program at Stages of Recovery is designed to treat anyone struggling with substance abuse, even if they have co-occurring mental health conditions, also known as dual diagnosis, such as trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, or bipolar. Our individualized approach focuses on treating the root causes of one’s addiction, which will require different methods for different clients.
If you or a loved one is facing negative consequences as a result of substance use, or if you find yourself unable to moderate substance use, addiction treatment may be right for you.
Most of our clients are from Lubbock, Levelland, Plainview, or surroundings cities, but our range of services can meet the needs of most individuals struggling with addiction anywhere in Northwest Texas.
Our specializations include:
Alcohol Treatment
Despite all of the news surrounding the opioid epidemic, alcohol is still the leading substance of abuse in the United States. Additionally, alcohol abuse and binge drinking are on the rise in the US, with some associating the increase with the COVID-19 pandemic. One study found binge drinking increased by over 20% during the pandemic.
Though many individuals use alcohol safely and responsibly, alcohol abuse causes extremely dangerous physical dependency. In fact, alcohol withdrawal is much more dangerous than heroin and many other illegal substances! Alcohol withdrawal can cause tremors, seizures, delirium, coma, and even death. Alcohol abuse can also permanently damage internal organs such as the brain, liver, and heart.
In addition to the physical dangers, alcoholism poses unique challenges to those in recovery due to its legality. Not only is alcohol socially acceptable, but it can be found in most grocery stores, events, and venues. This makes moderation or cessation extremely difficult for many individuals compared to other substances.
That said, recovery is possible, and at Stages of Recovery, we see it every day! Our alcohol rehabilitation program helps our clients develop the tools and coping skills to manage life successfully without alcohol.
Opioid Addiction Treatment in Lubbock
As you may know, the nation is still in the midst of a devastating opioid epidemic. Over 1,000 Texans die every year due to opioid overdose and an estimated 1 in 5 Texans has either overdosed or knows someone who has overdosed. Fortunately, this trend has begun to slow down, but many still need help.
Though opioids are highly addictive, recovery is possible. Many clients come to Stages of Recovery for treatment related to both prescription opioids (such as Vicodin, OxyContin, morphine, and codeine) and illicit opioids (such as heroin and fentanyl).
Stimulant Addiction Treatment in Lubbock
Methamphetamine use has seen a huge spike in Texas. From 2005 to 2015, meth-related deaths in Texas increased by over 200%. Meth is a highly addictive illicit stimulant that releases a massive rush of dopamine, the feel-good chemical in the brain. This can leave users chasing this high time and time again, despite legal, personal, and health consequences.
Recovery from meth addiction poses unique challenges because sober life will never create the same type of dopamine rush. That said, with therapeutic and psychiatric support, recovering meth users can go on to live happy successful lives.
Though meth addiction is the most common stimulant we treat, others come to us for prescription drug addiction as well, such as amphetamines like Adderall.
Benzo Addiction Treatment
Benzos, or benzodiazepines, are anxiety medications that are increasing in popularity. Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, and Valium are the most common drugs prescribed. Though these drugs are legal and used by millions, many find them highly addictive, and physical dependency is dangerous. Benzo withdrawal can cause similar symptoms as alcohol withdrawal, such as seizures, tremors, delirium, and even coma.
Quitting benzos can pose unique challenges because many experience “rebound anxiety”. Rebound anxiety is a term used to describe severe anxiety that surfaces after benzo use, which sometimes feels more severe than the anxiety prior to benzo use.
At Stages of Recovery, we combine therapy and medications to help our clients to develop a happy and healthy life without benzodiazepines, despite the challenging emotions of early recovery.
